La Cocina de Valentina: Pumpkin Flan

Learn how to prepare this delicious pumpkin flan, is super easy and is the perfect dessert for Thanksgiving dinner. Our mother used to make it for us.

Caramel

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of white refined sugar
1/4 cup water

Preparation:

1. Place the flan ring or ramekin over medium high heat add sugar and water and let it melt or until it turns to a deep golden brown color. Move the content carefully to cover the entire surface of the ramekin (bottom and sides) and let it cool.

Flan

Ingredients:

1 can of condensed milk
1 can evaporated milk
1 cup pumpkin puree
1 teaspoon vanilla or 1 vanilla pod
4 whole eggs
1/2 cup sugar

Preparation:

1. Mix in a blender eggs, condensed milk, evaporated milk, pumpkin puree, sugar and vanilla, beat until everything is well mixed. Pour this mixture into the flan ring or ramekin on top of the cold caramel. Cover the flan ring and place it in a pot in water bath for one hour.

2. Let it cool in the water bath and then take it to the refrigerator for at least two hours. To serve, unmold the flan place it in a pretty dish and decorate as you like, you can do so with cinnamon, raisins, candy corn or whatever else you want.

Aprende a preparar este riquísimo flan de calabaza, súper fácil y un postre perfecto para la cena de Acción de Gracias. Nuestra madre solía prepararlo para nosotras.

Caramelo

Ingredientes:

1/2 taza de azúcar blanca refinada
1/4 taza de agua

Preparación:

1. Colocar la flanera a fuego medio alto agregar el azúcar y el agua y dejar que se derrita o hasta que tome un color marrón o dorado intenso. Mover el contenido hasta cubrir con mucho cuidado toda la superficie de la flanera (el fondo y los laterales) y dejar enfriar.

Flan

Ingredientes:

1 lata de leche condensada
1 lata de leche evaporada
1 taza de puré de calabazas
1 cucharadita de vainilla o 1 vaina de vainilla
4 huevos enteros
1/2 taza de azúcar

Preparación:

1. Mezclar en la batidora los huevos, la leche condensada, la leche evaporada, el puré de calabazas, el azúcar y la vainilla, batir hasta que todo quede bien mezclado. Verter esta mezcla en la flanera sobre el caramelo frío. Tapar la flanera y colocarla en una olla a baño de maría durante una hora.

2. Dejar enfriar el flan en el baño de maría y luego llevarlo al refrigerador por al menos dos horas. Para servir, desmolda el flan colocándolo en un plato bonito y decóralo a tu gusto, puedes hacerlo con canela, pasas, candy corn o cualquier otra cosa que desees.

With Your Own Hands: Cord Taco

We love to travel (as you may know at this point) and of course headphones are one of the things we always carry in our traveling bag, but headphones fall victims of a messy full of stuff bag in no time, that’s why we decided to do this DIY cord taco inspired by the originals made by This Is Ground, we added a twist of color and made it more fun. It’s super easy we hope you decide give it a try.

What you need:

Piece of leather (whichever color you decide)
Fabric
Fabric Scissors
Leather Scissors
Glue
Circular object
Pen
Needle and Thread
Button
Leather punch

Instructions:

1. Trace a circle using your circular object onto the leather and the fabric, we used a bowl with 4" in diameter. Draw the circles on the back side of the leather and the fabric.

2. Cut the circles, we suggest that you use a leather and a fabric scissors because they work better and make cleaner cuts, but of course, you can use your regular scissors as well.

3. Then fold the circle in half and crease it. Mark where you want to sew the button. Once you sew it fold the circle and use the position of your button as reference to make your buttonhole on the opposite site.

4. Glue the two circles together by the center and with the leather punch make small holes all around it. Sew them together. You can use a sewing machine if you have one.

And that’s it! We are done! Wrap up your cords and travel on!

Nos encanta viajar (como ya se pudieron dar cuenta) y por supuesto los auriculares son una de las cosas que siempre llevamos en nuestro bolso de viaje, pero los auriculares y los cargadores son víctimas de un total desorden y enrede dentro de la bolsa en muy poco tiempo, por lo que decidimos hacer esta manualidad, tacos para guardar cables inspirados en los originales realizados por This Is Ground, hemos añadido un toque de color para hacerlo más divertido. Es súper fácil y esperamos que decidan intentarlo.

Lo que necesitan:

Cuero (cualquier color que gusten)
Tela
Tijeras para tela
Tijeras para cuero
Pegamento
Objeto circular
Marcador
Aguja e hilo
Botón
Perforadora de cuero

Instrucciones:

1. Trazar un círculo usando el objeto circular sobre el cuero y la tela, nosotras utilizamos un recipiente de 4 pulgadas de diámetro. Dibujar los círculos en la parte posterior de la piel y el tejido.

2. Cortar los círculos, sugerimos que se utilicen tijeras para cortar cuero y tijeras para tela porque funcionan mejor y hacen cortes más limpios, pero claro, pueden usar tus tijeras regulares también.

3. Luego doblar el círculo de tela por la mitad y marcar donde se desea coser el botón. Una vez que se cose doblar el círculo otra vez y usar la posición del botón como referencia para hacer el ojal en el lado opuesto.

4. Pegar los dos círculos unidos por el centro y con la perforadora de cuero hacer agujeros pequeños a su alrededor y luego coserlos. Pueden usar una máquina de coser si tienen una.
