Hi, tomorrow Saturday, April 21 it's Creativity & Innovation Day, so happy creativity day we're sending all our creative vibes your way!

Now, to today's post, this is the last post dedicated to creativity week and it's a good one.

We all have found ourselves in a creative rut at one time or another, feeling or having the need to create but at the same time feeling completely uninspired. In this digital age we live in, we are constantly exposed to an overload of information and visual stimulation, and with sites like Pinterest and apps like Instagram, it's quite easy to fall into a rabbit hole of inspiration consumption, where we spend most of our time-consuming inspiration instead of creating.

When in a creative block and/or trying to come up with the solution to a problem, we need a new level of thinking, and we accomplish that by changing the context in which our thoughts are developed. Like Albert Einstein said: “We can not solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them”.



To change the context in which our thoughts are created to accomplish a different level of thinking, we need to get out of our routines, which means getting out of Pinterest, Instagram, and similar virtual places, and search for inspiration elsewhere. That's where our Creativity Deck of Cards comes in, we made these 52 cards with random everyday activities and habit-forming creative exercises to help you get back into the habit of creating.



By implementing these activities you'll be breaking your patterns and allowing your brain to think with newness. Most of these activities don't require more than 30 minutes to complete, but of course, you can take all the time you want. And since the idea is to get out of our daily patterns, if the activity calls for a drawing and drawing is what you always do or you just feel like using another medium, or if the activity calls for writing and on that particular day you feel like drawing, by all means, go ahead, do the activity as you please as long as you're doing it differently than you normally would.


With the exception of a couple of cards that suggest you watch a TED talk or listen to a podcast, we selected these activities with the intention to encourage you to look for inspiration outside of the internet, your phone and/or your computer, and pay attention to your surroundings. You may find some of these activities too ordinary and ask yourself what do they have to do with creativity, but these are normal everyday things which importance we usually take for granted not realizing the impact they have in our creative processes and the way we approach problem-solving, like for example "Take a Nap", believe us, we've been stuck on a problem for hours and found the solution right after waking from a power nap or a good night sleep, so don't dismiss them as irrelevant.

Shuffle the cards and choose one at random, and execute the suggested activity. Do this whenever you feel uninspired, on a creative block, stuck on a problem, or just for fun once a day.

Hola, mañana sábado, 21 de abril es el Día de la Creatividad y la Innovación, así que ¡Feliz día de la creatividad, te enviamos todas nuestras vibras creativas!

Ahora, a la publicación de hoy, esta es la última publicación dedicada a la semana de la creatividad y es una muy buena.

Todos nos hemos encontrado en un estancamiento creativo en un momento u otro, sintiendo o teniendo la necesidad de crear pero, al mismo tiempo, sintiéndonos completamente sin inspiración. En esta era digital en la que vivimos, estamos constantemente expuestos a una sobrecarga de información y estimulación visual, y con sitios como Pinterest y aplicaciones como Instagram, es bastante fácil caer en un barril sin fondo de consumo de inspiración, en el que pasamos la mayor parte de nuestro tiempo consumiendo inspiración en lugar de creando.

Cuando estamos en un bloque creativo y/o nos encontramos en busca de la solución a un problema, necesitamos un nuevo nivel de pensamiento, y esto lo logramos al cambiar el contexto en el que éstos se desarrollan. Como Albert Einstein dijo: "No podemos resolver nuestros problemas con el mismo nivel de pensamiento que los creó".


Para cambiar el contexto en el que se crean nuestros pensamientos para así lograr un nivel diferente de pensamiento, tenemos que salir de nuestras rutinas, eso significa salir de Pinterest, Instagram y lugares virtuales similares, y buscar inspiración en otro lugar. Ahí es donde entra nuestra Baraja de Cartas de Creatividad, creamos estas 52 cartas con actividades cotidianas aleatorias y ejercicios creativos que crean hábito para ayudarte a volver al hábito de crear.



Al implementar estas actividades, romperás tus patrones y permitirás que tu cerebro piense con novedad. La mayoría de estas actividades no requieren más de 30 minutos para completarse, pero por supuesto, puedes tomar todo el tiempo que desees. Y dado que la idea es salir de nuestros patrones diarios, si la actividad requiere un dibujo y dibujo es lo que siempre haces o simplemente tienes ganas de usar otro medio, o si la actividad requiere escritura y en ese día en particular, te sientes como para dibujar, por supuesto, adelante, haz la actividad como lo desees siempre y cuando la hagas de manera diferente a como la harías normalmente.



Con la excepción de un par de tarjetas que sugieren que veas una charla de TED o escuches un podcast, seleccionamos estas actividades con la intención de alentarte a buscar inspiración fuera de internet, tu teléfono y/o tu computadora, y prestar atención a tu entorno. Es posible que encuentres que algunas de estas actividades sean demasiado comunes y te preguntes qué tienen que ver con la creatividad, pero estas son cosas cotidianas normales, cuya importancia generalmente damos por descontada, sin darnos cuenta del impacto que tienen en nuestros procesos creativos y la forma en que enfrentamos la resolución de problemas, como por ejemplo "Toma una siesta", créenos que hemos estado atascadas en un problema durante horas y hemos encontrado la solución justo después de despertar de una siesta o una buena noche de sueño, así que no las descartes como irrelevantes.

Baraja las cartas y elige una al azar, y ejecuta la actividad sugerida. Haz esto siempre que no te sientas inspirado, en un bloque creativo, atascado en un problema o simplemente por diversión una vez al día.

Hi, this week we celebrate Creativity & Innovation Week 2018, and as we do every year since this blog was born, we'll be sharing three posts related to creativity throughout the week. We're starting sharing our favorite creative TED talks.

When in need of a creativity boost a great way to find inspiration and/or a different perspective is watching a TED talk. You've probably already watched one or more TED talks, but in case you haven't heard of TED before or have heard of it but aren't sure of what it is, TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). It began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment, and Design (TED) converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. And also, independently runs TEDx events to help share ideas in communities around the world.

These are some of our favorites talks about or related to creativity and imagination, we believe that in our creative pursuits it is useful to learn how creativity and the generation of ideas work, and also learn from others' unique points of view and experiences around their topic of expertise as well as their creative processes, so we can emulate not what they do but how they do it: how and where they find inspiration, how they come up with new ideas, and how they make their ideas come to life.

These TED talks will inspire and motivate you to be more curious and to create. To keep working with more creative energy on that project you got going on or to start that project you've been meaning to start. Enjoy!

Hola, esta semana celebramos la Semana de La Creatividad y La Innovación 2018, y como hacemos todos los años desde que nació este blog, compartiremos tres publicaciones relacionadas con la creatividad durante toda la semana. Estamos comenzando compartiendo nuestras charlas TED creativas favoritas.

Cuando necesitas un impulso de creatividad, una excelente manera de encontrar inspiración y/o una perspectiva diferente es ver una charla de TED. Probablemente ya hayas visto una o más charlas de TED, pero en caso de que no hayas oído hablar de TED antes o de que hayas escuchado sobre ello, pero no estás seguro de saber de qué se trata, TED es una organización sin fines de lucro dedicada a difundir ideas, generalmente en la forma de charlas breves y poderosas (18 minutos o menos). Comenzó en 1984 como una conferencia en la que convergieron la Tecnología, el Entretenimiento y el Diseño (TED), y hoy cubre casi todos los temas, desde la ciencia hasta las empresas y los problemas globales, en más de 100 idiomas. Space has been very trendy for the last couple of years, and with Pantone color of the year being Ultraviolet, this trend shows no signs of stopping. Interstellar (moons, sun, planets, galaxies, constellations, stars) prints and motifs are everywhere from accessories and jewelry to clothing, to shoes, and home decor, some even say that stars are the new stripes.
