Rebecca Deutremer is an artist, author, and illustrator living and working in Paris. The eldest daughter of an artisan carpenter father and a librarian mother and passionate about photography, she first turned to design and graphics by taking courses in the 1990s in a preparatory workshop and then graduating in 1996 in decorative arts and graphic design at the National School of Decorative Arts (ENSAD) in Paris.

She began working as an illustrator for the publishing house Deux Coqs d'Or during her studies, where she worked on imagery, colouring and decals. After finishing school, the Gautier-Languereau publishing house entrusted her with the illustration of a first album, then a second, at the same time, she began to work for other publishers, and gradually gained notoriety.

She has illustrated and written many books and won the Sorcières Prize 2004 in the album category for her children's book L'Amoureux, and also, has worked as artistic director for the animated film Kérity, la Maison des Contes. In 2009 she published her book "Artbook" which collects more than ten years of her work and in 2014 the second volume of her art book called Dautremer and Vice Verse, was published by Tishina editions.

She works mainly in pencil and gouache on a large scale, on watercolour paper. She finds inspiration in photography, framing, colour, and light and works like a photographer, thinking about composition, depth of field, blur... and tries to offer in her illustrations several degrees of reading, in order to reach young and old.
