Madrid is the third largest city in Europe and has a lot to offer. Enjoy its rich culture and numerous museums, or simply admire the gorgeous architecture, or visit its beautiful parks. We love Madrid.
We have prepared a list of things we like to do, and places to
visit in Madrid. We have ourselves visited several times and without fail,
always find something new.
Walk Through Art
You can’t miss the city's art spaces; Prado Museum, Reina Sofía,
Círculo de Bellas Artes and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. Or simply explore the
streets of Lavapies and Malasaña and enjoy the urban art: its everywhere! You
will soon find yourself lost in amazement walking these streets full of color.
Plaza Mayor (Main Square)
This is the main square of Madrid and is full of history. This arcaded
square is the heart of the Austrias neighborhood which is one of the oldest and
most charming neighbourhood in the whole of Madrid.
Retiro Park
El Retiro is one of the most popular parks in the city with 125
hectares to explore. It is a beautiful green space in the center of Madrid, and
you cannot miss it regardless of the season of your trip! The Rosaleda (Rose
Garden collection), the Crystal Palace and the large pond are particularly
noteworthy. In addition to acting as a giant green lung for the city, Retiro
also offers culture, leisure and sports as well as the free exhibitions and
many more activities.
Cibeles Fountain
Cibeles is an icon of Madrid. Built in 1782, the fountain represents
the Roman goddess Cibeles, symbol of earth, agriculture and fertility. In this
square, Spanish people celebrate the triumphs of Real Madrid (Spain's most
successful and most iconic football team).
Gran Vía
Walk Gran Vía, the most famous street in Madrid and enjoy its
architecture, theaters, restaurants, cafes and shops. LOTS OF SHOPS.
Puerta de Sol
This is the most central square in Madrid and is semicircular in
shape. The city's busiest streets converge here, and every New Year's Eve you will
find thousands of people waiting near the famous post office clock to ring in
the new Year. There is also the famous plate that marks point zero and measures
all distances to the other cities of
Spain. Last but certainly not least, is the emblam of Madrid: the statue of the
bear and the arbutus.

El Rastro is definitely one of our favorites, and every Sunday from
9AM to 3PM you will find the streets of La Latina neighbourhood crowded with
locals and tourists alike. You can find all sorts of new and second hand items
here, and all kinds of antiques and handmade items. With more than a thousand
vendors, the visit usually ends with an aperitif at a local bar drinking a
glass of wine or beer.
The Rooftop of Círculo de Bellas Artes
With a beautiful view of the city, the rooftop bar has a very cool
atmosphere and good music. Our recommendation is to see the art exhibition on
at the time, and then go up, hang out and take a drink.
Nómada Market
This is a fair dedicated to emerging designers and entrepreneurs.
It is a space for new artists to showcase their creations and promote their
brands. It incorporates parallel activities such as workshops, film
exhibitions, reading spaces and cuisine. We love it because we can buy
beautiful and unique things and support entrepreneurs like us.
San Miguel Market
One of the oldest and most beautiful in Madrid, you can enjoy tapas
and drinks. We recommend you to try one of Madrid's traditional desserts.
Matadero Madrid
The old slaughterhouse today is a quarter dedicated to culture in
which you can enjoy design, film, food, theater, music, and reading. This is
another must see of Madrid.
Puerta de Alcalá
With neoclassic-style architecture, this is another emblem of the
city. It is close to Parque del Retiro so you can do the two visits together.
Also, don't miss the opportunity to take your picture beside the famous Puerta
de Alacalá.
Go Out For Tapas y Cañas
(beer and Spanish tapas)
Going out for beers and tapas is something very typical in Madrid.
If you can do this on an outdoor terrace, even better! Then you can go to a nightclub or go bar-hopping; Madrid nights are magical.
Tips:
- You can use public transportation: buses and the metro service is super
easy and can take you anywhere.
- Your visit to Madrid can be a multicultural experience: the
history of Madrid is a crossroads of cultures with remaining vestiges of Jews,
Arabs and Hindus.
- Go to the theater and see a play; musical and danceshows in Madrid
are exquisite.
- Drink hot chocolate with churros, and try the local cuisine.
- Take a stroll through Malasaña and Lavapies to enjoy the endless urban
art.

conocer, comida, bebida, disfrutar de la cultura y los museos o simplemente admirar la
arquitectura o visitar sus hermosos parques. Nosotras la amamos.
Hemos preparado una lista de las cosas que más nos gusta hacer y
lugares que visitar en Madrid. Hemos visitado Madrid varias veces y siempre
nos resulta encantadora y conocemos algo nuevo y diferente.
Paseo Por El Arte
No puedes dejar de visitar sus espacios de arte, Museo del Prado,
Reina Sofía, Círculo de Bellas Artes, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. O caminar por
las calles de Lavapiés o Malasaña y disfrutar del arte urbano.
Plaza Mayor
Esta es la plaza principal de Madrid y está llena de historia.
Esta plaza aporticada es el corazón del Barrio de Austrias, el casco viejo de
la ciudad y uno de los barrios con más encanto.
El Parque del Retiro
Es uno de los parques más populares de la ciudad, 125 hectáreas
para explorar. Es un hermoso espacio verde en el centro de Madrid. No puedes dejar
de visitar según la temporada de tu viaje, la Rosaleda (Jardín
Colección de Rosas), el Palacio de Cristal, el estanque grande. Además de ser
un pulmón verde el Retiro ofrece también cultura, ocio y deporte.
Fuente de Las Cibeles
Es un ícono de Madrid, construida en 1782, la fuente representa la
Diosa Romana Cibeles, símbolo de la tierra, la agricultura y la fecundidad. En
esta plaza se celebran los triunfos del Real Madrid (El equipo de fútbol más exitoso y más emblemático de España).
Gran Vía
Caminar por Gran Vía, la calle más famosa de Madrid y disfrutar de su
arquitectura, sus teatros, restaurantes, cafés y tiendas.
Puerta del Sol
Es la plaza más central de Madrid, la plaza es semicircular a la
que confluyen las calles más históricas y más transitadas de la ciudad. Allí
puedes ver el famoso reloj de la casa de correos en el que cada 31 de diciembre
se marcan las 12 campanadas y se reúne toda una multitud. También se encuentra
la famosa placa del Km Cero, el punto donde se mide el kilometraje a las
diferentes ciudades, alberga también la estatua del oso y el madroño.
Rastro de Madrid
Sin dudas uno de nuestros favoritos, cada domingo de 9:00 a.m. a 3:00 p.m. siempre repleto de gente, ubicado en el barrio de La Latina, se pueden
encontrar todo tipo de artículos nuevos y de segunda mano, todo tipo de
antigüedades y muchas cosas hechas a mano. Encontrarás más de mil vendedores, la
visita suele terminar con el aperitivo en un bar de la zona tomando vino o
cerveza.
La Azotea del Círculo de
Bellas Artes
Desde aquí puedes tener una hermosa vista de la ciudad, el bar tiene
una onda muy chula y buena música, nuestra recomendación es ver la exhibición
del momento y luego subir y pasar un rato y tomarte unas copitas.
Nómada Market
Es una feria dedicada a los diseñadores emergentes y
emprendedores. Es un espacio para nuevos artistas comercializar sus creaciones
y promocionar sus marcas, incorpora actividades paralelas como talleres, cine,
exposiciones y espacios de lectura y gastronomía. Nos encanta porque podemos
adquirir cosas hermosas y únicas y apoyar a emprendedores como nosotras.
Mercado de San Miguel
Uno de los más viejos y más hermosos de Madrid, disfruta de tapas
y bebidas y aprovecha para probar uno de los postres típicos de Madrid.
Matadero de Madrid
El antiguo matadero hoy es una pequeña ciudad dedicada a la cultura
en la que se puede disfrutar de diseño, cine, gastronomía, teatro, música,
lectura, en fin otro imperdible de Madrid.
Puerta de Alcalá
De estilo neoclásico, este es otro emblema de la ciudad, está
cerca del Parque del Retiro así que se pueden hacer las dos visitas juntas, no puede faltar
tu foto en la Puerta de Alcalá.
Salir de Tapas y Cañas
Típico de Madrid salir a tomar cervezas y comerte unas tapitas
mientras disfrutas del momento y si puedes hacerlo en una terraza exterior, mejor. Luego puedes ir a bailar o a escuchar música a algún bar, las noches de
Madrid son mágicas.
Consejos:
- Transportarse en metro y autobús es fácil y te lleva a cualquier
parte de la ciudad.
- Tu visita por Madrid puede ser una experiencia multicultural ya
que la historia de Madrid es un cruce de culturas del que aún quedan vestigios,
judíos, árabes e hindúes.
- Ver teatro y danza en Madrid es para chuparse los dedos.
- Comer chocolate con churros y probar la gastronomía local.
- Date un paseo por Malasaña y Lavapies para disfrutar de mucho arte
urbano. Y de noche una salidita por los bares de Malasaña.
