La Cocina de Valentina: Our Mother's Cornbread Recipe

Today we want to share with you a recipe that our mother used to make for us since we were little and that Val learned to make when she was 12 years old.

We love this cornbread, our mom used to prepare it on rainy days and we ate it with hot chocolate after bathing in the rain, those were one of our favorite things.

It is a very easy recipe and very delicious, we hope you decide to try it and if you have children that you make it with them.

Ingredients:


  • 1 1/2 cup of corn flour
  • 2 cups of wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 bar of butter
  • Zest and juice from one lemon

Instructions:

1- Beat the butter for 2 minutes, add the sugar and continue beating.
2- Add the eggs one by one.
3- Mix all the dry ingredients and add them to the mixture little by little.
4- Add the two cups of milk.
5- Grease the mold and sprinkle with cornflour to prevent it from sticking.
6- Baked for 45 minutes.

Hoy queremos compartir con ustedes una receta que nuestra madre nos hacía desde pequeñas y que Val aprendió a hacer cuando tenía 12 años.

Amamos este pan de maíz, mami solía prepararlo los días de lluvia y lo comíamos con chocolate caliente después de bañarnos en la lluvia, eso era de nuestras cosas preferidas.

Es una receta muy fácil y muy rica, esperamos que decidan probarla y si tienen hijos compartir la preparación con ellos.

Ingredientes:


  • 1 1/2 taza de harina de maíz
  • 2 tazas de harina de trigo
  • 1/2 taza de azúcar
  • 3 huevos
  • 1 1/4 cucharadita de sal
  • 1 cucharadita de royal
  • 2 tazas de leche
  • 1 barra de mantequilla
  • Ralladura y zumo de un limón

Instrucciones:

1- Batir la mantequilla por 2 minutos, agregar el azúcar y continuar batiendo. 
2- Agregar los huevos uno a uno.
3- Mezclar todos los ingredientes secos e ir agregando a la mezcla poco a poco.
4- Agregar las dos tazas de leche.
5- Engrasar el molde y espolvorear con harina de maíz para evitar que se pegue.
6- Hornear por 45 minutos.
