Maya Hanisch is a Chilean artist, illustrator, author, and designer living and working in Chile. She trained as a graphic designer at the Diego Portales University in Santiago, Chile and as a fine artist at the School of Fine Arts (SMFA) in Boston, MA, USA, which has allowed her to unleash her style, influenced by folk culture and botanical motifs.

She has published several books since 2008 with publishers in Spain, Italy, France, the United States, England, and Latin America, which have been translated into several languages. She has also been awarded several prizes such as the Purple Island Award at the Nami Island International Picture Book Illustrations Concours in South Korea for her book Animal Color, which was also chosen among the 20 best books for children and young people of 2015, by Fundación La Fuente, and she was also selected to represent Chile at the BIB Biennale in Bratislava.

She is a professor at the University of Development (UDD) in Chile and also teaches workshops in various universities and book fairs around the world and her paintings and collages have been exhibited both in Chile and abroad.

Maya Hanisch es una artista, ilustradora, autora y diseñadora chilena que vive y trabaja en Chile. Se formó como diseñadora gráfica en la Universidad Diego Portales en Santiago de Chile y como artista en la Escuela de Bellas Artes (SMFA) en Boston, MA, EE.UU., lo que le ha permitido desatar su estilo, influenciado por la cultura popular y el folclore y los motivos botánicos.

Ha publicado varios libros desde 2008 con editoriales en España, Italia, Francia, Estados Unidos, Inglaterra y América Latina, que han sido traducidos a varios idiomas. También ha sido galardonada con varios premios, como el Premio de la Isla Púrpura en el Concurso de Ilustraciones de Libros Ilustrados de Nami Island en Corea del Sur, por su libro Color Animal, que también fue elegido entre los 20 mejores libros para niños y jóvenes de 2015, por la Fundación La Fuente, y también fue seleccionada para representar a Chile en la Bienal BIB en Bratislava.

Es profesora en la Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD) en Chile y también imparte clases y talleres en varias universidades y ferias del libro en todo el mundo, y sus pinturas y collages se han exhibido tanto en Chile como en el extranjero.
