Art We Love: Jessica Roux
2/05/2020Jessica Roux is an artist and freelance illustrator originally from North Carolina, living and working in Nashville. Encouraged by her parents, she's had an interest in drawing outside and being in nature since she was a child. She is a plant and animal enthusiast and she loves to explore in her own backyard and to be surrounded by nature.
In her work, she renders flora, fauna, food and other everyday objects with intricate details using a subdued color palette and rhythmic shapes, evocative of old-world beauty.
Jessica graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2013 with a degree in Illustration, and since then she has exhibited her work in galleries across the US, including Light Grey Art Lab, Gallery 205, Nucleus Portland, Antler Gallery, Gallery 1988, Hero Complex Gallery, and others, and has worked with the likes of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Pottermore, The New Yorker, The New York Times, Andrews McMeel Publishing, Penguin Random House, Macmillan, Smithsonian Magazine, among others.
We love her subdued color palette and the intricacy of her work as well as the sense of nostalgia her work conveys. You can follow her on Instagram, Twitter, like her Facebook page, read her blog, and buy her artwork here.
