Hi guys! As I told you on this post, I was recently in NYC, as a girl living in the Caribbean where it never gets cold you can imagine that I don’t own many boots, although I travel (not as much as I would like) here on my island I can’t wear them much. So I decided to make these boot covers so with the same pair of boots I can have different options to go with my look of the day, what a great idea! Don’t you think? They are ideal for traveling, because they don’t use much space in your suitcase and you can create very original looks.

This DIY is very effortless to make and very feminine, and just that easy you can have completely different boots, I love using them.

You can create your own boot covers with accessories, ribbons and laces that you can get at any craft store or haberdashery, you can even recycle things you have at home, like belts you don't wear anymore. So let’s get to work!

You will need:
  • Scissors
  • Thread
  • Needle
  • Fringed leatherette
  • Feathers
  • Lace
  • Applications
  • Lobster claps
  • Chains
  • Felt
  • Ribbons
  • Hot glue gun
And all you can think of!

1. Cut strips of felt (what will be our base) choose a color that goes with the colors of the materials you've selected, measure the length according to your boot, the width depends on the materials that you are placing, I first placed and combined them to know what width I needed.

2. Carefully stick the materials, each one independently, when you cut the ribbons don’t forget to burn the ends to prevent fraying. Try to place the cords and ribbons firmly close together. Sew the chains in the center and at the ends place a lobster clasp for closing.

3. Finally take the other piece of felt and with a sewing machine stitch the ends and for the middle use a needle to stitch manually, and you're set, you have your boot covers!

¡Hola chicos! ¿No creen?

Crea tus propios cubre botas.
