Summer is finally here and days of relaxation at the beach are coming our way. If you need help deciding which books to take on your beach bag or your suitcase on your next trip, our summer reading list is here to help you. These are the books we'll be taking with us on vacation:

1. Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen: In a garden surrounded by a tall fence, tucked away behind a small, quiet house in an even smaller town, is an apple tree that is rumored to bear a very special sort of fruit. In this luminous debut novel, Sarah Addison Allen tells the story of that enchanted tree, and the extraordinary people who tend it.... 2. The Ocean at The End of The Lane by Neil Gaiman: Sussex, England. A middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. Although the house he lived in is long gone, he is drawn to the farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, he encountered a most remarkable girl, Lettie Hempstock, and her mother and grandmother. He hasn't thought of Lettie in decades, and yet as he sits by the pond (a pond that she'd claimed was an ocean) behind the ramshackle old farmhouse, the unremembered past comes flooding back. Wonder Boys by Michael Chabon: Grady Tripp is an over-sexed, pot-bellied, pot-smoking, ageing wunderkind of a novelist now teaching creative writing at a Pittsburgh college while working on his 2,000-page masterpiece, "Wonder Boys". When his rumbustious editor and friend, Terry Crabtree, arrives in town, a chaotic weekend follows – involving a tuba, a dead dog, Marilyn Monroe’s ermine-lined jacket and a squashed boa constrictor.

5. The Wander Society by Keri Smith: You are electing to join a secret underground movement. 6. A Field Guide To Getting Lost by Rebecca Solnit:A Field Guide to Getting Lost is a provocative investigation into the nature of loss, losing and being lost. Starting from the revelation that what is totally unknown to you is usually what you most need to discover, this book explores how finding that unknown quantity frequently requires getting lost to begin with. Exquisitely written, this book manages to be both a heartfelt memoir, and a highly accomplished cultural study, with the bird's eye perspective of one of the world's most perceptive critics. Taking in subjects as eclectic as mapmaking and memory, Hitchcock and Renaissance painting, this book confronts the challenge of living with uncertainty.

7. The Road by Cormac McCarthy: A father and his son walk alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. It is cold enough to crack stones, and when the snow falls it is gray. The sky is dark. Their destination is the coast, although they don't know what, if anything, awaits them there. They have nothing; just a pistol to defend themselves against the lawless bands that stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a cart of scavenged food—and each other. The Road is the profoundly moving story of a journey. It boldly imagines a future in which no hope remains, but in which the father and his son, "each the other's world entire," are sustained by love. Awesome in the totality of its vision, it is an unflinching meditation on the worst and the best that we are capable of: ultimate destructiveness, desperate tenacity, and the tenderness that keeps two people alive in the face of total devastation.

8. The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald: Broken Wheel, Iowa, has never seen anyone like Sara, who traveled all the way from Sweden just to meet her book-loving pen pal, Amy. When she arrives, however, she finds Amy's funeral guests just leaving. The residents of Broken Wheel are happy to look after their bewildered visitor-there's not much else to do in a dying small town that's almost beyond repair. You certainly wouldn't open a bookstore. And definitely not with the tourist in charge. You'd need a vacant storefront (Main Street is full of them), books (Amy's house is full of them), and...customers. El verano está finalmente aquí y días de descanso en la playa están por venir. Estos son los libros que vamos a llevar con nosotras en vacaciones:

1. Our Nautical Summer Brunch and a Freebie

One of the things that we like the most of living in the tropics is the eternal summer and to enjoy our terrace by the beach. We'll dedicate this post to talk about how we decorated a brunch on our beach terrace. We love to decorate and create environments according to our tastes to celebrate or just have a good time between sisters and friends.

We chose the nautical theme inspired by summer and the beach, we chose the dishes, glassware, cutlery, placemats, napkins, flowers around this theme. We kept in mind that although we chose things that we like they all should look good combined together. We chose ornaments and details that enhanced the subject and gave a special touch to our table.

Our beach terrace is small so we focused on the table and the back wall. We created a cute flags banner and combined it with a vintage lifesaver (if you like this banner you can download it for free by clicking here).

You can tell by the photos that blue, white and red were our chosen colors, we got a thread with these colors and we DIYed some napkin rings making sailing knots with it, also we made place cards and straw flags that can also be downloaded for free here and here. We incorporated some elements that could not be missed in a beach theme such as sea shells, nets and anchors, miniature boats, in short all those little things that remind us of the sea and summer days.

Una de las cosas que más nos gustan de vivir en el trópico es el eterno verano, poder disfrutar de la playa y las terrazas. Este post lo vamos a dedicar a hablarles de cómo decoramos un brunch en nuestra terraza frente al mar. Nos encanta decorar y crear ambientes según nuestros gustos para festejar o simplemente pasar un buen rato entre hermanas y amigos.

Hemos elegido el tema marinero por aquello del verano y la playa, hemos escogido la vajilla, la cristalería, la cubertería, los individuales, las servilletas, las flores en torno a este tema. Hay que tener en cuenta que aunque elijamos cosas que nos gusten debemos fijarnos bien en cómo combinan unas con otras. Elegimos adornos y detalles que realzan el tema y le dan un toque especial a nuestra mesa.

Nuestra terraza de playa es pequeña así que nos enfocamos en la mesa y la pared de fondo. Creamos una guirnalda de banderines bien mona que pusimos con un salvavidas vintage (si les gusta esta guirnalda pueden descargarla de manera gratuita haciendo clic aquí).

Está claro por las fotos que el azul, el blanco y el rojo fueron nuestros colores, elegimos un cordón que combina estos colores e hicimos un DIY para usarlos de servilleteros haciendo unos nudos marineros, también creamos unas tarjetas de lugar y baderines para pajillas que puedes descargar gratis aquí y aquí. Por supuesto que no podían faltar elementos como caracoles y conchas, redes y anclas, barcos en miniatura, en fin todas esas cositas que nos recuerdan el mar y los días de verano.
