Art We Love: Lady Desidia

Vanessa Borrell a.k.a. Lady Desidia is a spanish artist and illustrator living and working in Madrid. She has been drawing and painting since she can remember and studied Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca where she also got a doctorate degree and, after which, she would move to Madrid to pursue a Master's Degree in Contemporary Plastic Arts.
Her work is inspired by nature interlaced with everyday items and absurd objects surrounding mostly female characters. At the beginning she started working with a mostly black and white palette, but in time she started experimenting and her work became a puzzle where traditional handmade techniques (pencils, watercolors, collage, modeling) are combined with textiles and other materials through digital media to create more complex atmosferes.

Su obra está inspirada en la naturaleza entrelazada con objetos cotidianos y objetos absurdos que rodean principalmente a personajes femeninos. Al principio comenzó a trabajar con una paleta en su mayor parte negra y blanca, pero con el tiempo comenzó a experimentar y su trabajo se convirtió en un rompecabezas en el que las técnicas tradicionales hechas a mano (lápices, acuarelas, collage, modelado) se combinan con textiles y otros materiales a través de medios digitales para crear atmósferas más complejas.
